Prerequisites:
Introduction to Modeler or 3 months experience with Modeler, familiarity with OPNET process models, and familiarity with C/C++ programming.
Course Description:
Through labs and lectue,
Modeler's more sophisticated features are taught. This includes
a methodology on how to create a process model from the ground up, dynamically
creating and destroying processes during a simulation, and optimizing
the performance of Discrete Event Simulations. There are sections
that focus on wireless studies, such as a detailed analysis of the wireless
transciever pipeline, and improving the scalability of wireless simulations.
Agenda:
Day 1:
- Process Modeling Methodology
- Dynamic processes
- Modeling custom wireless effects
Day 2:
- Defining and measuring simulation performance
- General optimization of DES models
- Finding performance bottlenecks
- Scalable wireless network modeling
- Traffic modeling approaches
